The national Lebanese American Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce LEBFEST! 2010 Lebanese Festival, presented by Metropolitan Lincoln Mercury and hosted by Dr. Pierre C. Atallah & the Rochester Medical Center. Admission is FREE and over the festival weekend, join festival goers from around the country who turn out annually for the three-day event – also known as a ‘Mahrajan’ which will take place on Friday, August 6th, from 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Saturday, August 7th, from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM and Sunday, August 8th, from Noon until 5:00pm, with the city's weekly Farmers Market available on Saturday morning.
With another spectacular concert planned on the Paramount Bank MainStage, 2010 will also see the addition of a third day and a children's rides area both new this year. Since Biblical times, Lebanon has been acclaimed for its prized Bekaa Valley wines, which will be available for the first time ever at LEBFEST! During the festival, guests will be able to participate in an interview from a live call-in by Detroit's New 98.7 WAMP Radio Station, who will also be present on the festival grounds. Festivalgoers can take pictures with the original Barney Fife Police Squad Car from TV's Andy Griffith Show, an experienced cigar roller will be live onsite handrolling cigars and downtown Rochester is filled with shops, eateries, bars, hotels, parks, theatres, and boutiques - something for everyone at LEBFEST! Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to invite family & friends, bring a lawn chair to enjoy the concert and savor the sights, sounds and tastes of Everything Lebanese!
The 2010 LEBFEST! Grand Marshal is News/Talk AM-760 WJR Morning Radio Personality and proud Lebanese American: Paul W. Smith 'The King of Talk Radio in Detroit' who is scheduled to officially cut the ribbon to launch the formal start of the summer music concert during the Opening Ceremonies on Day One at 6:00pm. Honorary National Chairman of the Festival Host Committee is His Excellency, United States Ambassador Dr. Sam H. Zakhem. The weekend festivities feature: Specialty Food Booths offering tasty authentic Lebanese cuisine & American fare; International Artisans, Crafters and Lebanese souvenir & merchandise booths; a Children’s Fun & Play area; Live Entertainment with Music, Folkdance Troupes & Bellydancers; Cultural Displays, Mouth-watering Pastries & Homemade Ice Cream, a traditional Ethnic Bazaar & Market, and more!
